Nach der Eroberung Mallorcas \u00fcbertrug Jakob I. von Aragon diese mehr als 75 Hektar Olivenhaine und die sie umgebenden gr\u00fcnen H\u00fcgel am Fu\u00dfe der imposanten Serra de Tramuntana an den Vicomte de Bearne f\u00fcr die in der Schlacht von Porto Pi geleisteten Dienste.<\/p>\n<p>Die Geschichte von S&#8217;Olivaret reicht bis ins 17. Jahrhundert erwarb die Familie Montaner, eine der einflussreichsten und reichsten Familien Mallorcas, S&#8217;Olivaret und wandelte das Anwesen in eine beeindruckende Sommerresidenz um. In dieser Zeit wurden wichtige Umbauten und Erweiterungen des Anwesens durchgef\u00fchrt, die ihm sein heutiges Aussehen verliehen.<\/p>\n<p>Die Familie Montaner erwies sich zudem als gro\u00dfe Wohlt\u00e4terin der Region und errichtete mehrere wichtige Geb\u00e4ude auf der Insel, wie die \u00f6ffentliche Bibliothek in Palma de Mallorca und das Teatro Principal.<\/p>\n<p>Dar\u00fcber hinaus war die Familie f\u00fcr ihre Beteiligung an der kulturellen und politischen Bewegung der sogenannten \u201eBalearen-Renaissance\u201c bekannt, die sich der Wiederbelebung der Kultur und Identit\u00e4t der Balearen verschrieben hatte. W\u00e4hrend des Spanischen B\u00fcrgerkriegs wurde S&#8217;Olivaret von der republikanischen Seite als Feldlazarett genutzt.
