If you head west from the hotel, just a few kilometres away is the village of Alar\u00f3, and from there you can easily access Alar\u00f3 castle. The castle was impregnable in the past and there is historical evidence dating back to the year 902 AD suggesting it was used as a fort for different villages \u2013 today it houses a hostel and a restaurant. It is well worth the hike up to it to see the chapel, the \u2018aljubs\u2019 (subterranean passages), the Sant Antoni cave and the panoramic views.<\/p>\n

Towards the east we come across the village of Lloseta where Es Tossals Verds is a must-see for any nature lover. To get there you follow the Pedra en Sec route (GR 211 international nomenclature for the \u2018great route\u2019 paths), it is a place of great beauty with a hostel which is very well-known among hiking enthusiasts. If you decide to take a walk you can follow different routes which cut across the area\u2019s vineyards and get all the way to Biniali or Biniagual, small villages which are very representative of Mallorca\u2019s culture and rural life.<\/p>\n

If these walks are too gentle for you and you need more adrenaline and adventure, head north-west to the indescribable beauty of the main coastal mountain range on Mallorca, given the same name as the wind which approaches from the north, the Sierra de Tramontana, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, with its three large reservoirs and marked rural atmosphere.<\/p>\n
