HIKING IN MALLORCA

Discover the best walking routes and excursions in Mallorca

Discover the Tramuntana mountain range, a natural paradise declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, with hiking routes and signposted paths, mountain refuges for pit stops and peaks (known in Mallorcan as ‘Puigs’) with the best panoramic views of the island.

Our hotel S’Olivaret & Spa is the perfect starting point from which to set off on one of the many hiking routes through the Serra de Tramuntana, thanks to its privileged location.

Discover Mallorca, hiking routes.

If you head west from the hotel, just a few kilometres away is the village of Alaró, and from there you can easily access Alaró castle. The castle was impregnable in the past and there is historical evidence dating back to the year 902 AD suggesting it was used as a fort for different villages – today it houses a hostel and a restaurant. It is well worth the hike up to it to see the chapel, the ‘aljubs’ (subterranean passages), the Sant Antoni cave and the panoramic views.

Towards the east we come across the village of Lloseta where Es Tossals Verds is a must-see for any nature lover. To get there you follow the Pedra en Sec route (GR 211 international nomenclature for the ‘great route’ paths), it is a place of great beauty with a hostel which is very well-known among hiking enthusiasts. If you decide to take a walk you can follow different routes which cut across the area’s vineyards and get all the way to Biniali or Biniagual, small villages which are very representative of Mallorca’s culture and rural life.

Small squares with cafés and people sitting together enjoying a board game – a place to sit and just enjoy life.

If these walks are too gentle for you and you need more adrenaline and adventure, head north-west to the indescribable beauty of the main coastal mountain range on Mallorca, given the same name as the wind which approaches from the north, the Sierra de Tramontana, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, with its three large reservoirs and marked rural atmosphere.

With our rural hotel as your starting point you will be able to set off on some of the most beautiful hiking routes in the area, lose yourself in the fields and gardens on our estate, or visit the small village of Orient.

Our hotel boasts the perfect location from which to start a great number of hiking routes and itineraries to explore the island.

Download and use a track GPS in .gpx. format of the different hiking routes in the Serra de Tramuntana municipalities. To be able to use it on your mobile device you need to have an App installed which can read this type of file, such as Wikiloc, Tracklia, Geo Tracker or GPX Viewer.
